E-cards from the Parliament of Finland have been well-received

January 2008

The electronic postcard, or e-greeting, has quickly established itself as a viable alternative to the traditional printed greeting card, in some cases partly even replacing it. In 2006 the Parliament of Finland wanted to improve services offered to MPs and personnel by introducing a Christmas e-card service to complement traditional printed cards. Back then over 8,000 e-cards were sent in Finnish, Swedish and English. Encouraged by the positive feedback, the e-greeting option was offered again for Christmas 2007.

- We believe that the e-card is an important tool for our MPs and civil servants. More importantly, recipients of the e-card are delighted by the greetings they receive from the Parliament, says information officer Petteri Nyman from the Parliament information office.

A flexible option

Nyman says that the benefits of an e-card are reliability and flexibility. The comprehensive nature of the solution has also been an important factor for the Parliament. In addition to the e-card service, Ambientia has also provided related solutions regarding hosting and networking.

An e-greeting is an excellent choice for whatever the time of year. It is an environmentally friendly and cost-effective option, which is suitable for all kinds of greetings. It can be sent quickly and easily to many recipients at once, which saves time and cuts down on expenses. Due to the benefits of the e-greeting, the Finnish Parliament is considering making it a year-round service.
