Confluence 4.0 is out now! A whole new editor with improved functionalities and several new features and fixes. 

The new editor

The Confluence editor has been rebuilt from the ground up to make the editing experience simpler, faster and more intuitive. You can now create rich content with new and already existing macros.

Macro Editing

Simplified macro editing makes macros easier to manage when edited. A more visual experience makes it easier to visualize the final look.

Image Handling

Pasting images is easy straight from the clipboard. The images will get attached and embedded directly into the page, and they can also be turned into links. There is a wider range of default size options to choose from, but the width can also be specified. Searching images is possible through a new Search tab in the image browser.

Table Editing

Table operations have been made better in Confluence 4.0. Inserting tables happens simply clicking on the New Table dropdown and dragging the mouse to choose the number of rows and columns wanted in the new table. Now you can also merge and split table cells in the editor.

Introducing @mentions

Confluence 4.0 also includes the new @mentions feature that allows collaborators be brought into the conversation. Mentioning someone in any Confluence content, will send a notification through email.

Improved Page Comparison Functionality

Viewing changed content in Confluence has been made easier. Improved page diffs have been simplified in order to make them easier to read. Additionally, page diffs now show changes to both formatting and macros. Email notifications show page differences exactly as they appear in Confluence. These are now rendered in the email view with the correct diff color coding.
