Our hosting and network operations aim to secure the easy and failure-free use of our clients’ applications. To support this, we have built a service concept which consists of maintaining, monitoring and supervising services and servers.

Hosting

Ambientia Hosting is a concept which combines both the server hardware and the service components. The concept has been built to suit the needs and requirements of a company focusing on providing web services. Since Ambientia works on web services on a daily basis, we recognise and understand the demands they set for server hardware and services. Our servers run on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Our server rooms fulfil the conditions that the Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority has set for class-A server rooms. The rooms feature an uninterruptible power supply along with backup systems, a doubled air conditioning system and advanced security systems.

Monitoring Services and Servers

Our monitoring service makes it possible to supervise the client’s software and service entity from both functional and safety points of view. The service is usually combined with critical software updates and monitoring of service activities. BaseN is used in the monitoring process.

The monitoring system is used to supervise the state of the server, the operating system and the load of the system. It is possible to monitor e.g. hard drive space, system load, TCP traffic and a number of other parameters.

URL monitoring is used to follow the loading speed of a URL (and thus of the web service itself). If a web service does not show the desired content or the loading speed is very slow, the administrator automatically receives an alert.

BaseN makes it possible to monitor web services and applications, measure data and report the derived information when necessary. The real-time information is presented in a format which is easy to understand and utilise.

As a Red Hat Ready Hosting Partner, Ambientia provides clients the Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system to facilitate the web applications we develop. In Finland there is only one other Red Hat Ready Hosting Partner, and in Europe only three. The partnership requires that the company provides maintenance and customer service on a large enough scale.
