Communality

Creating communities based on wikis is one of the most effective ways of getting fast concrete benefits out of your organization. Introduction projects for wikis are typically fast end effective. After the introduction, the community quickly gathers active users - some of the users will be active writers whereas others participate more passively by commenting and asking questions. However, even the latter way of taking part encourages the writers to create more material because they feel that it is being used.

A large number of users may need a community portal to support them. It is also possible to produce other services with the help of the community portal, and external systems can be integrated into it. With the help of these tools, it is possible not only to produce information and communicate within the community, but also to do hands-on work.

Why Do We Need Communities?

Organizations with traditional meetings have become too slow, and therefore modern companies need an effective and thinking network. Different kinds of communities are needed in the organization to benefit from people's brain work and to guide their motivation into the right direction.

The communities can consist of the entire company or they can focus on a specific area of business or geographical location, an area of interest or a task. The communities can also work e.g. on a particular project, in which case it may be justified to include key customers and subcontractors in the community.
